Earthquake Safety Tips:

There are many precautions you can take to help protect your home and its inhabitants from the effects of earthquakes.

  • Make sure heavy objects are placed on the lowest shelves and store breakables in low, closed cabinets with latches.
  • Hang heavy wall items like mirrors away from spots where people sit.
  •  Only ‘soft’ art such as tapestries or light posters should be placed over sofas, chairs or beds.
  • It is also important to identify safe places under sturdy furniture and away from windows, mirrors or anywhere glass could shatter, in case you need to shelter in place.
